A clubmate of mine, represented NZ at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, and I know, that along with other members of the NZ team, he visited the Portsea training camp run by Percy Cerutty.
After he died some of his possessions were passed on to me. Amongst them was a hand written poem, on three sheets of note paper titled "Marathon Runner" and signed "By P W Cerutty". This poem is the same as that published in Percy's 1960 book " Athletics - How to Become a Champion" titled "The Distance Runner".
I am reasonably sure that the poem I have was not written out by my clubmate, and wonder whether it was written out by Percy himself? Does anyone have a sample of Percy's hand writing/printing &/or his signature I can compare it with?
